MAY 30-31, 2013, Crown Plaza Hotel Baton Rouge, Louisiana
@large is a one and a half day conference for black conservatives interested in engaging in the political process. The conference will be held May 30-31, 2013, at Crowne Plaza in Baton Rouge, La.
The goal of this conference is to inspire, motivate, and encourage black conservatives to get involved in politics and build a constituency within their communities. The desire is to inform these conservatives on the most valuable resources for civic engagement and public office – equipping them with targeted, strategic and provocative messaging, and getting them in front of people who can supply the financial resources to push that messaging into the public discussion. We are striving to lay the foundation for black conservatism to spread into small and large communities alike, and give people the tools needed to build this foundation. We want to make this an annual event, and perhaps build something larger as time goes along.
The conference will include prominent, conservative black speakers, workshops and discussions on various campaign disciplines such as fundraising and messaging, networking, and a showing of Rev. C.L. Bryant’s documentary “Runaway Slave.” Reverend Bryant is the headliner for the event, and he’s been instrumental in getting FreedomWorks involved as a resource for us.
Rev. C.L. Bryant – Keynote Speaker
Minister, Radio and Television Host, Creator of the Documentary “Runaway Slave”
Rev. C.L. Bryant is a native of Shreveport, LA. As the son of a WWII Veteran, L.C. Bryant and Elnola Bryant, C.L.’s roots run deep into the Cane River Area of Louisiana. As a licensed and ordained Baptist minister and pastor of 35 years, C.L. has traveled extensively through the U.S., South America and on missionary journeys in the Amazon. This former president of the NAACP’s Garland, Texas Chapter, self-professed “Democratic Radical” and former host of television’s Focus on Reality (a Golden Cassette Award winner) and numerous radio shows since 1980, now believes the values that he once vehemently upheld has led the Black community into a state of bondage to the US government.
Clearly unafraid to talk religion and politics, C.L. is not only a Tea Party Patriot but he is a charter member of the Red River Tea Party and Shreveport/Bossier Tea Party, co-founder of the Desoto Parish Grassroots, founder of the national movement One Nation Back to God and Fellow with FreedomWorks in Washington, D.C. Added to this illustrious list of achievements is independent filmmaker of the documentary “Runaway Slave.” Runaway Slave is a movie about the race to free the Black community from the slavery of tyranny and progressive policies. C.L. is a highly sought-after speaker and organizer across the nation for his unique insight on religious, political and racial issues.

In 2010, Jeff was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives on a platform of cutting spending, creating jobs and limiting government’s growth. A vocal supporter of cutting federal spending, Jeff quickly became a leader in fighting for fiscal responsibility and less government – even when a majority of his Republican colleagues opposed his efforts. He became well-known for his principled stands, such as declining his Congressional health care and retirement benefits, returning over $160,000 of his office budget to pay down the debt, and co-sponsoring legislation to end the Congressional pension program.
He fought for a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution and vociferously opposed the 2011 debt ceiling deal that gave the president the authority to borrow trillions of dollars. A passionate advocate for domestic drilling, Jeff boldly held up a “Drilling = Jobs” sign during President Obama’s speech during a Joint Session of Congress. During his re-election race in 2012, Jeff raised 2.3 million dollars.
Jeff is President of Restore our Republic PAC, a hard-core PAC for hard-right Republicans. The PAC believes the best way to change federal policy in Washington is to change the kind of people we send to Washington. They research, interview and assist the highest caliber of conservative candidates with hard-hitting, targeted media campaigns. Instead of politicians who will support the status quo, Restore our Republic PAC supports principled, courageous candidates who will fight for individual liberty, economic freedom, personal responsibility, a strong national defense and traditional values.
