|Victor Grossman, Former Putnam County Bar Association President, announces candidacy for New York State Supreme Court
Victor Grossman, an attorney with 34 years of experience as a Trial and Appellate Lawyer, today announced his candidacy for NYS Supreme Court from the 9th Judicial District. The 9th District includes Westchester, Putnam, Orange, Rockland and Dutchess counties.
Mr. Grossman is Counsel to the Putnam County Land Trust, which recently honored him with its 2013 Blue Heron Award for his role in helping to preserve over 800 acres of open space. The Carmel attorney has served as a Special Prosecutor in the 9th Judicial District. He has also served as a Law Guardian for children, appointed to protect minors in cases involving divorce, custody, abuse and neglect.
Presently serving as a member of the 9th Judicial District Grievance Committee, Victor Grossman plays a role in disciplining attorneys who violate the Code of Professional Responsibility, for example, by mishandling client funds.
In addition to his volunteer service with the Putnam County Land Trust, Mr. Grossman has served as a volunteer counselor in family and domestic violence issues with the Putnam – Northern Westchester Women’s’ Resource Center.
Victor Grossman’s civic involvement has also included service as a member of the Putnam County Legislator; Deputy Supervisor, Town of Southeast; Chairperson of the Putnam County Charter Revision Commission; and member of the Board of Director of the Cornell Cooperative Extension.
As required by Court Rules, when deciding to run for judicial office, he stepped down from his position as Chairman of the Putnam County Democratic Committee.
