CHIAROSCURO FOUNDATION RELEASES “NON DOCTORS”

“We are hopeful that Governor Cuomo is actually listening to

New Yorkers from behind his closed doors.”

New York–Apr. 18…The second in a series of radio advertisements about efforts to expand New York’s already liberal abortion laws began airing today in the Albany radio market. Additional ads will be rolled out in the coming days.

The 30-second spot, “Non Doctors” — it can be heard here — addresses a proposed change in state law that would allow non-doctors to perform surgical abortions in New York.

“Three out of four New Yorkers agree that allowing non-doctors to perform abortions in New York is an awful idea,” said Meg McDonnell, spokeswoman for The Chiaroscuro Foundation, the New York-based organization sponsoring the ads. “It would put the lives of women at additional risk, including the lives of underaged girls who are having surgical abortions without their parents knowing about it.  We are hopeful that Governor Cuomo is actually listening to New Yorkers from behind his closed doors.”

The script for “Non Doctors” is below:

Dear Governor Cuomo,

New York mothers appreciate your concern over women’s health issues.

But why would you consider letting non-doctors perform abortions on our daughters?

It makes no sense.

A girl can’t take an aspirin from a doctor in New York without her parent’s permission.

But you’d let her receive a surgical abortion from someone without a medical degree?

Without her parents knowledge!?

I’m sorry, Governor, but that’s crazy.

If you want to protect women, Governor Cuomo, please don’t put their lives at risk.
