We have nothing but good news about our parks and golf courses

Great Early Deal on Seasonal Golf Course Passes

Councilman Nate Steingart

I’ve got good news and bad news.

First, the bad news: While Spring officially is here, it’s been awful cold and the snow is far from melting as March goes out like a lion.

Now the good news: It’s going to warm up next week, and the Town of Fallsburg is gearing up to once again open its spectacular golf courses and parks.

Pretty soon, we will be able to wear our shorts, play some golf and go catch some fish in our Town of Fallsburg parks and golf courses.

The Town of Fallsburg for decades has had the best parks and golf courses in Sullivan County.  We are proud to be able to provide our residents and summer guests the best and most beautiful recreational facilities.

Our town employees perform a valuable service to our community in maintaining the high standards that have been always associated with the presentation and upkeep of our two parks, Morningside Park and Mountaindale Park, and our two golf courses Tarry Brae Golf Course and Lochmor Golf Course.

Our parks and golf courses are truly gems that should be utilized to the fullest by town residents and appreciated for their value in improving our quality of life in the Town of Fallsburg.

For Morningside and Mountaindale Parks, the season officially begins May 1 when these recreational facilities will be open for camping, boating, and pavilion rentals.  Our residents can partake in bringing their children to use our playgrounds and play at our basketball courts and athletic fields.  Along with great fishing, there’s also walking trails and a number of mini parks with their own basketball courts and playgrounds.

Our swimming pools and concession will be open for the season on June 29th, with pool passes available to town residents at the Morningside Park office.  Plans for the summer season include our Summer Recreation Program, a trip to a Mets game for our youth, fishing tournaments, and the Francis Currey Day celebration.  We already have plans for celebrating Halloween that include rides, games, and entertainment on Fright Night and a Hayride to the The House of Horror.

Our pros at both golf courses are already working to get our courses into shape.  Depending on the weather, we hope to open both Tarry Brae and Lochmor in mid April.

The Town of Fallsburg is now offering an early incentive to buy season golf passes and now’s the time to purchase a great season of golf at both our courses.  For our town residents, a pass is selling for $464 and for Sullivan County residents the cost is $564.00.  Please call Linda at 434-8810 Ext. 5 or email

The Town is also looking for Town of Fallsburg residents who can work as starters and cashiers at both Tarry Brae and Lochmor Golf Courses both weekdays and weekends.  Golf expertise is required for the job.  If you are interested, please call 434-2620.

So, now I’m done writing and going into the garage to get out my golf clubs.  I hope to see you at Tarry Brae and Lochmor soon.  Hopefully, I’ll be on the first tee in shorts very soon too.
