KATZ ANNOUNCES LEGISLATION
TO REPEAL NY SAFE ACT AT NY2A RALLY
Assemblyman Steve Katz (R,C,I-Yorktown) has introduced legislation to enact a full repeal of the NY SAFE Act, which was signed into law earlier this year. Katz was one of the most vocal opponents of the legislation during the debate on the Assembly floor and at various rallies held to oppose the measure. The announcement was made during Katz’s remarks at the NY2A Rally, the largest protest of the law thus far this year.
“The people of New York should know that we aren’t just talking about repeal, we are acting on it. Holding these rallies will show that we have support, and that support has to be backed with action,” Katz said. “Gov. Cuomo put forth a law that he thought would increase his national profile before he seeks higher office. We are here to tell him that our constitutional freedoms are more important than his job prospects. We won’t be thrown under the bus to advance his political aspirations.”
