ALBANY, NY… The NYGOP today released the following statement on the new economic numbers:
“For the first time since 2009, the American economy experienced negative quarterly growth. Our economy actually shrank by 0.1% in the 4th quarter of 2012.
“Apparently, even our modest prediction of slow growth was optimistic.
“President Obama may continue to claim that the economy’s woes just aren’t his fault, but in his fifth year in office, Americans are tired of excuses. But Obama’s inaugural address was more an exercise in partisan posturing than a serious plan to get America’s economy moving again.
“The Democratic Party just called our negative growth the ‘Best-Looking Contraction in U.S. GDP You’ll Ever See.’ Tell that to the nearly 8% of Americans or 8.2% of New Yorkers who are still unemployed, or the taxpayers who saw over $800 billion of their money handed out to special interest in the name of ‘stimulus spending.’
“Four years and another inauguration later, Americans are still asking, ‘what recovery?'”
