This time of year, the holidays are supposed to be a time of joy and festivity, particularly for children, who receive gifts as part of a tradition of giving.
The great commentator Andy Rooney once said that: “One of the most glorious messes in the world is the mess created in the living room on Christmas Day. Don’t clean it up too quickly.”
The Town of Fallsburg Police Department has had a long running tradition in making sure that some of our less fortunate children in our community do not miss out on that amazing moment of opening up gifts this time of year. Because of the Fallsburg PBA’s Annual Toy Drive, they too get a chance to make a great big mess with the wrapping paper-and to enjoy new toys and gifts they otherwise would not receive during the holidays.
For generations, our police officers have held this toy drive, working with local residents, businesses, and civic organizations to collect and distribute toys.
The Town Board is proud of the Fallsburg Police’s yearly effort to make the holidays a time of joy for our community’s children.

This year, the Fallsburg PBA lead a very successful effort to raise close to $4,000 in donations and organize the wrapping and distribution of gifts, with the help of the Fallsburg Teachers Association, the Fallsburg High School’s local chapter of SADD, Constructive Decisions, and other student groups and local volunteers.
Police officers Officer Jason Edwards, Robert Noller, and Denise Cavello, who were in the charge of this year’s drive, did a great job in organizing and leading this effort.
On December 16, the PBA hosted a Toy Drive event at the South Fallsburg Youth and Senior Center, where over 200 attended. Children enjoyed a visit with Santa and received gifts at the event. It was a wonderful time for all.
The Town of Fallsburg is a community in the true sense of the word, and nothing proves it more than when our citizens get behind and enthusiastically support our Fallsburg Police PBA’s Annual Holiday Toy Drive. It’s one of those small town, community efforts that makes Fallsburg a special place to live.
The Fallsburg Police Department is continuing to collect donations and toys to hand out during this holiday season.
If you know any child needing a gift, please call the police station at 845-434-4422. Leave the name, age, and sex of the child so they make a wonderful mess of their living room.
And on behalf of the Town Board, I would urge you to make a donation to this worthy cause. Contact the police station today!
It’s been a tough year for many families in the Town of Fallsburg-let’s help our police officers make their holiday and New Year more joyous and special this year.
