Last Saturday, Dec. 1, on World AIDS Day, I received an email from the Florida Democratic Party. It read:

“Today, we come together to recognize the incredible progress we’ve made in combating the HIV and AIDS epidemic and the countless lives already saved. But we also know we still have more work to do, and our state of Florida has been hit particularly hard hit by this epidemic with over 100,000 people living with HIV/AIDS here alone . . . Fighting against this disease is a bipartisan cause — and together, we can end HIV and AIDS once and for all.”   I immediately forwarded it to a moderate South Florida Republican strategist friend of mine, sardonically asking if the Republican Party of Florida put out a similar communique.” I got a voice mail a few minutes later, basically saying “What, are you (expletive deleted) kidding me?
